TIMELESS FAMILY MILESTONE PORTRAITS IN LITTLETON

I’m so excited to share some of my favorite images from this recent session! It’s such an honor to be asked to document a special milestone for a family. I’ve been lucky enough to be able to photograph both of these stunning girls when they were graduating from high school in addition to their family portraits! Capturing images like these are so important for your family legacy and will be a treasure to look back on throughout generations.

We took advantage of the gorgeous spring colors here in Littleton and did this session in one of my preferred outdoor locations. I was so happy when they told me they would be including their Grandma and their Golden Retreiver in the session too! Time passes quickly and it makes my heart so happy to know that they will always have these images to remember this time in their lives.

Hazely's Lucky Day | Baby Portraits at 1 year | Littleton

CELEBRATING HAZELY BEING 1

Beautiful Hazely. I am so lucky to call this adorable little sweetheart my niece! I could photograph her every day and never get bored - if only we lived close enough! She is so filled with personality and the most precious expressions (and she is the spitting image of her mama at this age)!

We were lucky enough to get to spend some time together this summer and had so much fun celebrating her 1st birthday with a special session. We even played with some magical bubbles that made smiley faces in her images - how crazy is that?!

I’m so happy that I was able to document this time in her life. These little babies really grow so fast and there is nothing more meaningful to me than being able to give families these memories!

Maddox's Lucky Day | Baby's 1st Birthday | Highlands Ranch

DENVER BABY’S 1ST BIRTHDAY & CAKE SMASH SESSION

It’s been a while since I’ve photographed a session that meant this much to me. Kristy has been one of my best friends for more than 30 years since we met in the 6th grade. We’ve done life together and have been through so much more than I could ever write about - really though, some things we said we’d take to the grave ;). She has been a part of almost every middle school and high school memory I can think of and even though we didn’t go away to the same college together or even end up living in the same state, we’ve stayed close and she has become part of my family. When something really wonderful happens (or when something really awful happens) she will forever be one of the first people I call and I’m so grateful to have someone as amazing as her that is always there for me.

When she let me know that she was adopting a baby boy, I could have burst from excitement. I’ve never been so happy to see one of my friends become a mom. Unfortunately, we were in the middle of the pandemic and I had to watch her become a first time mom and see Maddox growing up through Zoom calls and text messages from half way across the country. So when the opportunity for us to be together again finally became a reality, I wanted to make his 1st birthday portrait session extra special with my very first cake smash! Kristy baked the cutest (and most delicious) little cake and I planned a neutral, minimal set up that would keep the focus on Maddox and his precious expressions.

I loved creating these images so much that I’ve decided to make 1st birthday cake smash sessions a regular offering for all of my sweet clients! These sessions include a custom bakery made cake just like the one seen here and access to my baby wardrobe collection including the gorgeous organic chunky sweater that Maddox is wearing from The Simple Folk!

9 Advantages To Having Your Next Session In The Studio

IMPORTANT BENEFITS TO A STUDIO SESSION

I love being able to offer my clients portrait sessions in a beautiful, light and airy white studio. Today, I’m going to share some of the great reasons to choose my studio for your upcoming session.

No Weather Worries!

Colorado has earned itself quite the reputation for unpredictable weather. They say if you don’t like the weather here, wait 10 minutes or drive 10 miles - because weather around here can be crazy and change quickly. Unfortunately, that isn’t really a solution when you have your photo session scheduled. In the 14+ years I’ve been in business as a professional photographer, I’ve lost track of the times I’ve had to deal with wind, rain, hail and snow interrupting or forcing me to reschedule a session. This is especially frustrating for clients who have hired my team of hair and makeup professionals to help them look their best. Choosing to do your session in the studio takes away the stress of potential weather issues year round. Unless it’s unsafe to be on the roads or too dark outside, your session is on.

2. Amazing Light

Oh, the beautiful studio light! Light is the most important thing I plan for when I’m photographing you. My studio is all white with tons of windows that let in gorgeous, even, natural light throughout the day. Creating images in the studio allows me to easily photograph you in a variety of lighting situations including being backlit (as seen in the image below). The result of me photographing in the studio is consistent, beautifully lit images every time and the reason my clients choose me.

3. A Clean, Modern Background

Creating images in a clean, all white studio is a beautiful way to keep the focus on you and the amazing connection you have with your family. There’s no clutter or distracting items that might take away from the simplicity of the portraits.

4. Privacy

My studio is on the top floor of my building and offers complete privacy. There are never other clients there at the same time as you so you can relax knowing that your time with me will be quiet and uninterrupted. This makes the studio the perfect choice for intimate maternity sessions/maternity boudoir. The studio also features a private dressing and nursing room and on-suite restroom so you can alternate outfits easily and nurse your baby comfortably.

5. Convenience

The studio offers all of the conveniences of home and the added bonus that you don’t have to clean it before your session! There is plenty of comfortable seating, a kitchen stocked with refreshments, refrigerator and on-suite restroom.

6. Fewer Distractions

Another luxury of photographing in the studio is having the whole place to yourself so there are no distractions. This allows you to feel relaxed and comfortable in front of the camera knowing that there aren’t a bunch of strangers passing by watching you. It can also help keep little ones engaged in the session because they aren’t surrounded by their toys, televisions or exciting outdoor locations that might entice them to run off to play.

7. Safety

The health and safety of my clients is always my top priority. The studio is cleaned and sanitized regularly. It’s the perfect setting for crawling and toddling babies to be able to get down on the floor for adorable milestone images without worry of them getting dirty or finding something from nature to explore with their mouth. There is also no worry of running into any of Colorado’s dangerous wildlife (ticks, snakes, mountain lions or bears) during a studio session.

8. Furniture Options

The studio has a lovely selection of furniture that I can incorporate in your session. Adding in a few different pieces of studio furniture is a wonderful way to add variety and interest to your final gallery of images.

9. Easy Access & Parking

My studio is conveniently located with easy access and plenty of close parking available right in front of the building entrance. There is an elevator at the front doors for anyone who needs it and allows you to bring your stroller. It’s especially convenient for pregnant moms and new moms who may be recovering from birth and don’t feel up to long walks on uneven ground or stairs.
